As you may know my neighborhood, historic Financial District, was hit hard by Hurricane Sandy. Many have suggested we drive more business back to the downtown area to help out! Here is one feel good Incentive to do so: Friends are throwing a Fundraiser this Sunday, Nov. 11, at 121 Fulton St Bar (btwn Nassau & Williams) starting at 12:45 pm. $20 Cover will go to purchasing supplies for the area of Staten Island which is in great need.
121 Fulton St Bar has been a favorite place of mine is providing Drink specials from 1pm – 3 pm $5 drafts and $7 well drinks for those donate the cover. So come and enjoy this Sunday Funday For a Great Cause!
Salud Restaurant in Financial District NEEDS YOUR HELP TODAY!
I received this email from their Management team!
URGENT S.O.S. MESSAGE
Salud Restaurant Location is 142 Beekman Street between South & Front St.
Dear friends family and loyal guests of Salud,
I hope that everyone and your families are all ok after the storm. As some of you might have already heard, Salud was completely obliterated by the storm and we were about 13 feet underwater from basement to ceilings. It has been hard to communicate in this area without power or phone service so my apologies for not reaching out to you sooner. Please be advise that our kitchen and restrooms, utilities and were still underwater until 2 days ago, when we were finally were able to obtain gas and generators. Although most of the mitigation of the main floor of the restaurant was done by good Samaritans , neighbors and friends in the neighborhood. The downstairs still needs a little work.
We would be extremely grateful for as any volunteers and could use as much man power as possible to finish the cleanup. We will be there all day today from 1pm – until we finish tonight. We will appreciate if you can also forward this message along to anyone else you think might want to help us in this devastating situation.
We will provide all the cleaning materials, gloves and tools for the final cleanup of what use to be Salud.
Could use a power washer, crowbar and jackhammer if anyone can provide it.
Thank you all so very much.
Eddie Rodriguez

Let’s help give Relief to those affected by Hurricane Sandy!
Hey Everyone! I am back from almost 5 & 1/2 days without power here in the Financial District, as one of the last places in Manhattan to be restored. Sadly there are still some miscommunications with ConEdison (NY power company) and some buildings in the area that have yet to have power. These Buildings were cleared from inspection and have been missed when it was time to restore their power. We were the first area to have our power out as a preventative measure and yet we were the last to come back up. I felt bad I couldn’t do much when our building had no power and we had to fend for ourselves. Now that our family is fine I am trying to give back. Here are ways we can:
- Donate to Unitedway or to donate $10 Text RECOVERY to 52000
- Donate to the Red Cross or to donate $10 Text REDCROSS to 90999
- Adopt a a displaced family by making a donation on Family-to-Family
- Join NYCService to Volunteer for and/or donate to the Hurricane Sandy relief effort
- You can donate a hotel room or money via Race2recoverNYC to help displaced NYers

Hurricane Sandy is visiting NYC on my Birthday
Hey Everyone, A lot has happen and I am sorry I have not been posting updates. My daughter just turned 6 months, my brother came to visit from London and I have been celebrating my birthday all week. I’m glad I did because October 28 is my actual birthday and it seems that Hurricane Sandy has decided to pay us a Visit. As a Miami Native I am use to hurricanes but in NY? Well I guess we are getting used to it since we had hurricane Irene 14 months ago. I wish everyone in the Northeast to stay safe!

My First Mother’s Day
Before I talk about my little angel and being a first time mother I want to say Happy Mother’s Day to all those wonderful mothers out there! It’s crazy to think that there are people let alone mothers that would hurt their babies or children. As soon as I had Ava this April I knew that she would be a blessing. All I know is that she inspires me to pursue success and be better person. I am glad to be part of this club. Have a wonderful Mother’s day!
Welcome to the World, My Daughter Ava!
The reason for April 16th being my last blog post was because I gave birth to my daughter Ava on Tuesday April 17th! After 9 months she’s been tasting great food right along with me and I am so glad to welcome her into the world! So after a small break I am happy to say Savor the Moment is back! Here is my little partner below.
